The Intellectual Virtues Academy is a Long Beach Public Charter High School. A charter school is an independently operated, non-sectarian, non-profit, open enrollment school. Our mission is to create a small learning community based on the intellectual virtues model — fostering personal qualities of a good thinker or learner. There are no admissions requirements for IVA High; all students entering 9th through 12th are invited to apply for the 2026-27 school year. Completing the application is not a guarantee of admission. If the number of applications exceeds the number of spots available in a class, IVA High will hold a public lottery to determine admission. Public lottery for the 2026-2027 school year will be held in March 2026. Applicants are encouraged to apply to other high schools in the event all available spots are filled.
