No situation is too complex for us. Here are three examples of situations when IVA High was able to help students love their school:

Student A was homeschooled through her sophomore year but was seeking new opportunities. Distance learning had become isolating and she wanted to connect with people her age, in-person. Student A was bright and wanted to continue her advanced coursework for college and our project-based learning was a natural fit for the type of student-led learning she was used to. As a junior, IVA High was able to transfer her homeschool classes into a course of study that supported her admission to the college of her choice. She also became an active member of our tight-knit community, helping plan student events and creating her own club.

Student B was overwhelmed at his neighborhood high school. The class sizes were large and he felt like the teacher didn’t give him the attention he deserved. He needed support in math but it was much easier to ignore assignments than it was to find help in his large classes. His grades were slipping and he was disengaged; behaviors that mom and dad never saw before were beginning to pop up. Student B’s parents wanted him to find a school that was smaller, safer and could offer 1:1 support. Student B transferred to IVA High at the start of his sophomore year and quickly found a spot on our Debate team, improved his grades and is on track to graduate with his class.

Student C started his freshman year at a private school but his busy schedule with evening sports practice and traveling for games left him exhausted by the end of the first semester. He was a strong student but was pulled in multiple directions. The cost of private school increased.  Still wanting to have a “high school experience” and not opt for online learning, student C enrolled at IVA High midway through his freshman year. After meeting with IVA High staff, student C was able to come up with a flexible approach to school and learned that he could receive credit for some of the activities he was doing outside of school. He’s now thriving in both school and sports and is even planning to take advantage of one of our paid internship opportunities.

No matter your situation, all our transfer students are welcomed with open arms. A student ambassador will greet you when you start at IVA High, so you’ll know someone from the start. Your teachers will take extra time to transition you into the class and the students in your advisory period will fold you into the community. We’re ready for you.

If you don’t see yourself in the students described above, call us and we can chat about the possibilities. We don’t want you to wait any longer to love your school. Get the process started today—transfer to IVA High
